The Event of a Thread brings together sculptor Crystal Gregory’s materials of support and change with The Moving Architects’ Demure as Dynamite, where structure and movement intersect. Scaffolding builds and repairs, textiles protect, and concrete pipes contain and carry, as Gregory inverts material expectations while considering the thread: “individually it is prone to stress, strain, and breakage, but as a collective the burden of tension becomes bearable.” Within this environment, Demure as Dynamite unfolds as a dance duet intervention activating the sculpture through gesture and movement, drawing on portraits of women in the Bible as described through the poetry of Thomas John Carlisle. This work is a collaboration between Choreographer Erin Carlisle Norton with The Moving Architects, Imlay Gallery, sculptor Crystal Gregory, and multi-disciplinary artist gwen charles.
